Biography

Matome Modiba is an investment professional with over 15 years of Africa debt experience. He is currently a Principal in Absa’s syndications team with a focus on hard currency and local currency loans in Sub-Saharan Africa. As well as local currency bonds in Absa’s presence countries on the African continent. Matome also heads up the Absa CIB’s Insurance desk.

Prior to taking on this role, Matome was an investment officer for FMO’s Southern African regional office. FMO is the Dutch DFI focused on providing debt and equity finance to private organizations in emerging markets. Before joining FMO, Matome worked in Standard Bank’s Property Finance Africa team, arranging and structuring real estate loans in Standard Bank’s presence countries.
