Biography

Marcel Bruhwiler is the Manager of Infrastructure investments in Southern Africa at the International Finance Corporation (IFC). IFC is a member of the World Bank Group and the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector. He leads IFC’s regional investment operations in energy, transportation, telecommunications, and municipal infrastructure.

Marcel has 30+ years of experience developing, constructing, and financing infrastructure projects. Before joining IFC in 2012, he worked with a multinational company in power project development and financing. He also founded a boutique investment advisory firm focused on the energy infrastructure sector and was the Managing Director for the Southern & East Africa operations of a multinational plant & equipment manufacturer. Marcel has worked across Africa in the past 17 years and has previously lived and worked in Switzerland, China, Indonesia, and South Africa. He holds an MBA from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Marcel is currently based in Nairobi, Kenya.
