Jon Duncan

Biography

Jon Duncan leads the Responsible Investment Program at Old Mutual Group. The Program is focused on driving the systematic integration of material environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues across the Group’s cR650 billion of funds under management. This work has primarily been about building out and implementing the business case for Responsible Investment across the Groups various investment capabilities from listed equity, private equity, infrastructure and fixed income.

Jon leads a team that undertakes industry ESG research, the analysis of green growth opportunities, and engagement on regulatory issues and local industry initiatives, such as the Code for Responsible Investing South Africa (CRISA). Jon was involved in the drafting of CRISA and currently sits on the CRISA committee that drives the application of the Code in South Africa. He leads the Groups working relationship with the UNPRI and sits on the PRI global reporting and assessment committee. Jon sits on the University of Cape Town advisory panel for Responsible Investment and additionally sits on the South African National Task for Impact investing.

In 2015, Jon was appointed as Senior Associate of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, which brings together business, government and academia to find solutions to critical sustainability challenges. During 2017/8 Jon worked on the technical advisory committee of the CISL Climate Wise Project looking at modeling the materiality of transition risk for infrastructure investment portfolios.
