Fazil Abdul Rahiman

Biography

Fazil is a strategy and sustainability leader with over 15 years of experience in the domains of energy transition, climate change and sustainability. His key proficiency is in integrating sustainability towards achieving value creation, performance improvement and cost optimization. Fazil has led some of region’s iconic and first of its kind projects when it comes to energy strategy, decarbonisation, ESG strategy, sustainable finance, greenhouse gas accounting, resilience planning, process optimization and carbon markets for leading governments, asset managers and corporates. Currently he is the Group Vice President for Sustainability and Climate Change at TAQA. His previous companies include Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, EY, PwC, Masdar, Dubai Carbon Center of Excellence and Hewlett Packard.

Fazil holds an M.Sc. in Electrical Power Engineering from Masdar Institute of Science and Technology at Abu Dhabi in collaboration with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA). He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and a Certified Measuring and Verification Professional (CMVP). He is one of the first International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) scholars and was awarded ‘Young Future Energy Leader (YFEL)’ by Masdar. Fazil introduced the concept of ‘Demand Response Mismatch’ to the research world, which is published in the IEEE Journal of Smart grids.”
