Frontera Capital (“Frontera”) was formally established a decade ago by Founder Owner, Dr Vicente Pons (ex-Citigroup, Renaissance Capital, Exotix and Ecobank, all in London), as a boutique investment firm which focuses exclusively on identifying, originating, structuring, distributing and co-investing in fixed income investments sourced exclusively from frontier (early stage) emerging markets where the firm is set-up to screen and assess risk-adjusted return prospects in sovereign, sub-sovereign, FX, term and corporate risks across 125 frontier markets globally. In the last decade, Frontera’s financial intermediation record includes placing such risk transactions via matching global investors’ demand for yield with the funding needs of governments and corporates in a geographically diverse range of frontier markets from Paraguay to Mongolia, but with a continuing specialist focus on sub-Sahara Africa where the firm has been especially active. Frontera’s hub office is based out of the English law Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) financial freezone in the United Arab Emirates, in which the firm’s Management, Finance, Operations, Compliance, Treasury, Risk and Research capabilities are based, with additional product distribution capabilities out of the UK, EU and US.
