Mr. Luis Hurtado joined CIBC in 2014 where he quickly progressed to Director in the LatAm Strategy Team. In his current role, Mr. Hurtado is responsible for providing actionable trade ideas, macroeconomic research and forecast on FX and FI products. His LatAm country coverage includes: Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Panama .
Prior to joining CIBC, Mr. Hurtado worked at the Bank of Canada in the Canadian Economic Analysis Department, where he provided research and analysis on economic and sectorial developments in the province of Ontario, including the Bank of Canada’s Business Outlook Survey.
Mr. Hurtado holds a Masters in Economics and a Masters in Finance from the University of Toronto and an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Financial Management from Wilfrid Laurier University.
