Leonor Salomon

Biography

Born in Mexico City, married, mother of 2 STEM girls.

After working in different corporations as systems engineer, and getting a master’s degree, Mrs. Salomón joined Banco Santander Mexico in October 1993 (then Banca Serfin) in the MIS area, implementing decision support systems.

Since 2000 Mrs. Salomon has been responsible of the Bank’s structural risk management: interest rate risk, exchange rate risk, liquidity risk and capital sufficiency. Her main functions include designing and executing the Bank’s funding strategy, hedging strategies for the aforementioned risks, determining transfer prices, issuing debt and hybrid instruments in the local and international markets, implementing the necessary processes and systems to comply with Basel III regulation relative to IRRBB and Liquidity Risk management, in several occasions the recovery and resolution plans, and special situation management model. Before that she implemented the local risk management regulation for the trading book, and held the Mexder risk management certification for several years.

Mrs. Salomón has a Master of Business Administration by IPADE, she is the vice-president of her class and a BA in Computing Engineering by Universidad La Salle, where she graduated with honours with an award-winning thesis. In 2018 she completed the UCLA Anderson Banco Santander W50 program, for women on boards.
