Biography

Mr Torrado is responsible for the execution of CIBC’s business strategy in LatAm he is responsible for the Latin America Corporate Investment Banking group at CIBC These services include M&A, Equity and Debt Capital Markets, Derivatives and tailored Transactional Banking Solutions He is also responsible for managing relationships with the top Latin American corporate clients, public sector entities, local authorities and regulators

Julian has 23 years of investment banking experience (M& ECM, DCM) covering Central America, the Caribbean and Andean region for a US financial institution extensive sales process experience, including the divestiture of TGI’s 32 to CVCI, CEMEX LatAm IPO, and ISA project finance advisory for Interchile among others

Immediately prior to assuming his current position, from 2012 to 2014 Mr Torrado was responsible for the origination and execution of corporate banking transactions as Managing Director and Head of Corporate Clients Coverage for a Spanish based international financial group in Colombia

Mr Torrado began his banking career in 1993 working for several local brokerage firms at the Colombia Stock Exchange In 1999 he moved to the banking system to work for the Spanish based Financial Group as a senior sales officer on the Distribution desk From 2000 to 2012 he held a number of senior business positions with a large U S financial institution, including Head and Director Senior Coverage Banker for the Power, Gas, Infrastructure, Mining and Telecom Industry Clusters

Mr Torrado is the current Chairman of the Canadian Colombian Chamber of Commerce Mr Torrado received a law degree from the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario ( as well as a Postgraduate Degree in Financial and Securities Law from the Universidad de Los Andes ( He was also FINRA Registered (Series 7 and Series 63
