Biography

Guillermo recently joined Intesa Sanpaolo where he has a mandate to originate and lead bank lending, capital markets and financial advisory for project, acquisition, leverage and corporate finance transactions covering all sectors within economic infrastructure—renewable and conventional power, infrastructure as well as oil and gas—across the Americas.

His most recent experience before Intensa Sanpaolo was with MUFG where he played a key role in the bank's leading positions for several transactions in all major countries in the Latin America region. During his tenure with MUFG he was also instrumental in a select number of deals in the U.S.

Prior to MUFG, he was a member of the Structured Finance team within the Oil Division at GLENCORE based in London where he executed M&A, pre-export finance, reserve based lending as well as project financing transactions in the South American, West African and European regions.

Previous to his time with GLENCORE, he worked in New York for Citigroup on numerous project finance arranging and advisory assignments in the Americas within a range of different sectors, from power to oil and gas and infrastructure.

Before joining Citigroup, he performed project appraisal for a number of investment and M&A opportunities at the Linde Group, based in the U.S. Prior to this, he worked for Pemex Natural Gas Division and was involved in the implementation of key pieces of the new regulatory framework applicable to the natural gas sector in Mexico after collaborating in various capacities with Swiss Re and Cemex.

Guillermo holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad Regiomontana in Monterrey, Mexico and an MBA from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
