Gary works in the Prudential Division at The Banking Association of South Africa. His key focus is on the regulatory and capital impact that governs banks.
Gary has a long career in banking and corporate treasury functions. He started in banking in 1983 moving through various divisions before settling in the treasury environment. He has been with local and international investment banks before moving to the corporate sector in 2003 where he moved up to the treasurer position for a large global diversified mining company. After more than 8 years in this role and his varied experience, he joined The Banking Association of South Africa
With over 20 years’ experience in the treasury division, Gary has had exposure to trading in forex, money markets, capital and derivative instruments. He has worked on global mergers and acquisitions; global funding projects having had exposure to operational assets at a corporate level and managing functional currency exposure. He has also worked with a junior mining venture capital fund which provides capital for early to later stage exploration and mining development projects as well as an interim CFO role for a new iron minerals beneficiation venture.
