Arthur Rubin

Biography

Arthur Rubin manages SMBC Nikko’s Debt Capital Market business for Latin America, based in New York. He has over 20 years of experience working in Latin American debt capital markets and liability management, and has executed a wide variety of bond, liability management, structured finance, loan, and restructuring transactions in Latin America and the U.S. Before joining SMBC, Arthur was the head of Latin American DCM at Nomura and ING. Previously, he ran the Americas liability management group for Morgan Stanley, and subsequently was responsible for its Brazilian debt capital markets business. Earlier in his career, he held positions in Latin American DCM and liability management at Goldman Sachs, ABN AMRO, Bankers Trust and Atlas One, including two years based in São Paulo, Brazil with Itau Bankers Trust. Arthur has executed financings for Latin American corporate clients including Pemex, Petrobras, Braskem, Vale, Suzano, Klabin, Telebras, CSN, Cosan, Cemex, and Banco Hipotecario, and for sovereign clients including Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, Colombia, Argentina and Venezuela. Arthur is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He received a BA degree from Yale University, a BA (Hons) degree from the University of Cape Town, and an MA from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
